From planning incision placement to seeing your final shape, our surgeons ensure you feel informed, cared for, and supported throughout the process.
Meet your consultant surgeon to discuss your goals, examine skin quality and thigh contour, and determine whether a lift alone or with liposuction will achieve the best result.
Your surgeon will plan the incision placement and technique to remove excess skin and refine your inner thighs, prioritising smooth results and minimal visible scarring.
Under general anaesthetic, skin and fat are removed and the thigh reshaped. You’ll usually return home the same day, wearing a compression garment to support healing.
You’ll be seen in clinic to check your progress and change dressings. As swelling settles, your results become more defined, revealing smoother, balanced contours.
At TPSG both men and women are offered the procedure. The procedure is most suitable for patients who have an excess of skin and fat that is hanging like an apron. This can interfere with wearing certain clothes and can become unsightly. It is not suitable for patients who have very general obesity and no excess skin. A thigh lift is an effective way to lose weight.
The purpose of this surgery is to create a more aesthetic contour to the inner thigh. Some incisions can be extended to include the excess tissue in the buttock or groin region.
At TPSG all patients will be seen by the surgeon who is going to perform the procedure on them. A careful medical history and examination will be carried out. All concerns are discussed and an appropriate, achievable and safe thigh lift procedure will be chosen.
A thigh lift commonly involves liposuction to contour the inner thigh and if necessary, surgical removal of any excess skin and fat. Patients are marked pre-operatively to ensure the resulting scar will lie inside the inner thigh extended if necessary into the buttock or groin creases where they are less noticeable. The operation is carried out under general anaesthesia. Liposuction is performed first followed by removal of the excess skin. The scar is sutured with absorbable sutures. A padded dressing is placed on the scar, and all patients are put in elasticated compression garments. On occasions drains may have to be inserted to collect the excess fluid.

Normally patients stay for one night in the hospital. They are encouraged to mobilise after the operation, discomfort permitting. All patients wear a compression garment for 6 weeks after the operation to minimise swelling and discomfort. Patients can expect to be off work and driving for 2-4 weeks, gentle sporting activity for 6 weeks and contact sports for 3 months. The benefits of thigh lift should become evident fully by 3-6 months after the operation. The scars take anything up to 12-18 months to reach their final state and scar massage is encouraged from 6 weeks after surgery.
The benefits of body contouring procedures can last a life time. However, gaining weight will partially reverse the effects of surgery. Therefore, it is essential for patients to maintain their results by adopting a healthy lifestyle.
Minor wound Infection and wound dehiscence are the most common complications, followed by bleeding, collections of fluid under the skin and hypertrophic (prominent) or scars. The risk of these complications as well infection and blood clots in the legs are increased by being overweight, smoking, oral contraceptives and diabetes. At TPSG, utmost care and attention is paid to every detail of the surgical journey to ensure the risk of any complication is absolutely minimised.

The day of surgery, I felt very taken care of, and had no real fears and woke up with the body of my dreams. Thank you to everyone, I will continue to recommend you to anyone thinking of plastic surgery in the UK.
A thigh lift can smooth the overall contour of the thigh, which may improve the appearance of cellulite, but it does not specifically treat cellulite. Your surgeon will discuss what improvements you can realistically expect.
Scars are usually placed along the inner thigh, sometimes extending into the groin crease or buttock fold for the best contour. They fade over time and are positioned to be as discreet as possible, even in swimwear.
Yes. Many patients choose to combine a thigh lift with liposuction, abdominoplasty, or other body contouring procedures for a more comprehensive result and a single recovery period.
