Mo Akhavani

Mo Akhavani is a Consultant Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon and is on the GMC specialist register. His NHS practice is based at the Royal Free Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, London. He has a busy private practice in London’s renowned Harley Street and in Surrey.

Mo carried out his plastic surgery training in London, Rio de Janeiro, Manchester, Toronto, Shreveport and New York, working with some of the leading plastic surgeons in the world. He has had extensive training in both reconstructive plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery, which has enabled him to become a leader in his field.

He has pioneered the ‘BEST’ body contouring technique (Body Enhancing Speedy Transformation), combining body contouring and shape enhancement, using a highly efficient fat transfer system from the techniques he has learnt from his travels worldwide.

He is the chairman of the Body Contouring committee of BAPRAS, and specialises in all aspects of cosmetic surgery. He has expertise in the following:

Mo is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, having passed the specialist plastic surgery examination: the FRCS (Plast). He is one of the few plastic surgeons in the UK to hold both the British and European diplomas in Hand Surgery. He is a member of BAPRAS, BAAPS and the BSSH. He has been awarded the esteemed Hunterian Professorship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England for his innovative research in plastic surgery for his Doctorate of Medicine (MD).

Mo has won several academic prizes including: BAPRAS European Fellowship, Dunhill Medical Research Award, BMI Healthcare Fellowship award, BSSH best paper and FESSH travel award. He has published over 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals, and is a faculty member on the BSSH educational committee promoting the education of future surgeons.
